Volunteer at Monastery Stables

This place runs on people who care.

Monastery Stables & Community Grounds is built on the dedication of volunteers who show up — in the barn, on the grounds, behind a camera, at a keyboard, at a community event — and give this place something that cannot be bought. Their time. Their care. Their presence.

If you have ever wanted to be part of something that genuinely matters in this city, this is your invitation.

What is your why?

People come to volunteer here for all kinds of reasons. And every single one of them is welcome.

Maybe you grew up around horses and have been looking for a reason to get back to them. Maybe you live in the city and crave mornings that smell like hay and open air. Maybe you want to give back to your neighbors — the families, the veterans, the kids who come through our gates and leave a little lighter than when they arrived. Maybe you just need somewhere to belong. A community. A purpose. A place that asks something real of you.

Whatever brought you here, we are glad you came. Bring your reason with you. We will put it to work.

Where you fit in

There is no single kind of Monastery Stables volunteer. Our needs are as varied as the people who show up for us.

In the barn and on the grounds — Horse care and feeding. Grounds maintenance and seasonal projects. Trail clearing, fence repair, historic preservation. Hands-on work that keeps this place alive.

Behind the lens — Photography and videography that captures what this place looks and feels like. We need people who can help tell this story visually.

With words — Blog writers, storytellers, and content creators who can bring our mission to life on the page. If you can write, we need you.

On social media — People who understand how to build community online and want to help grow ours.

With the press — Media relations, outreach, and communications support. Help us get this place the attention it deserves.

In fundraising — Grant research, donor outreach, event support. If you have a background in development or simply a passion for connecting people to causes, there is a role for you here.

At our events — Hands on deck for Horses & History, our Spring Community Gathering, and more. Event volunteers are the reason these nights feel the way they do.

Don't see your skill listed? Tell us what you bring. We are still figuring out everything this community can do.

How it works

Getting involved is simple.

Step 1 — Fill out our volunteer application. It takes just a few minutes and helps us understand who you are and what you are looking for.

Step 2 — We will reach out. A member of our team will contact you to learn a little more about what drew you here, what kind of role interests you, and how we can make the most of your time and talents.

Step 3 — Show up. We will match you with a role, get you oriented, and welcome you into the community. From there, it is yours.

A note from us

We are so appreciative of your interest in Monastery Stables & Community Grounds. We are a small, volunteer-powered organization doing big things on a historic piece of land. We do not take lightly the fact that you are choosing to give us your time.

We will do our best to make that time meaningful — to give you real work, real connection, and the deep satisfaction of caring for something worth caring for.

The horses will appreciate it too.
