Community Programs
This place was built for everyone.
Philadelphia is a city of extraordinary people carrying extraordinary weight. Poverty, chronic stress, addiction, mental health challenges, family hardship — these are not abstract problems. They are the daily reality for too many of our neighbors.
And the restorative spaces that help — open land, living animals, quiet, nature, belonging — are rarely accessible to the people who need them most.
Our community programs exist to change that. We bring individuals and families facing the greatest barriers directly to this place — to the horses, the land, and the calm that Monastery Stables has always carried. No clinical framework. No program jargon. Just a place that helps people breathe again, open to everyone.
If you represent an organization whose community would benefit from time here, we would love to hear from you.
Summer Horse Camp
Now in its second year, Summer Horse Camp brings young people to the horses, the history, and the Wissahickon for a week of hands‑on learning and outdoor adventure. Two August sessions. Real skills. Real confidence. A place to belong.
Volunteer to support our Programs
Monastery Stables & Community Grounds runs almost entirely on the dedication of volunteers. Without them, this place does not exist. It is that simple.
Our volunteer community is the backbone of everything we do — from caring for the horses and maintaining the historic grounds, to telling our story through photography, social media, and writing, to supporting our events and helping us grow. If you have time, a skill, or simply a desire to be part of something meaningful in this city, we want to hear from you.
This is a community of people who love this place and care for it together. We would love for you to be part of it.
