Wissahickon Valley Park is one of the largest urban natural areas in the country — more than 2,000 protected acres of woodland surrounding Wissahickon Creek, with over 50 miles of bridle paths for trail riding. Our stables sit at the heart of it.

This is a rare find in any major metropolitan area. Our historic 21-stall barn on six acres of Fairmount Park offers serious horsekeepers everything they need — and trail access most facilities can only dream of.

More Than a Boarding Barn

Monastery Stables is part of a historic site that has been home to horses for nearly 300 years. We are part of the Fairmount Park Conservancy’s network of protected historic sites — and under new leadership, we are growing our community programs, our volunteer network, and our mission to preserve the equine legacy of the Wissahickon for generations to come.

We are seeking boarders who want to be part of something special — equestrians who love their horses and want to join a community committed to preserving this area’s equine heritage.

Boarders are invited to participate as volunteers and to support our vision of making this extraordinary place accessible to all Philadelphians. When you board here, you are part of that story.
