We thank the friends and neighbors of the Monastery who have donated countless hours of time and contributions. This generosity helps the Boarders and Stewards of the Monastery make improvements to our historic buildings, grounds and preserving the amazing history that surrounds us. We as a community will always preserve the history of horses and the building of Philadelphia through the tradition of riding and driving horses along the Wissahickon/Forbidden Drive as our previous equine hero’s have done!

What’s new at the Monastery complex? We replaced aged and leaking roofs on the main barn and the sheep barn thanks to generous contributions from our community.

In 2022, we have more work to do to steward the facilities and grounds. These include interior barn renovations, stone masonry repair, stucco and carpentry work, storm water management and paddock resurfacing.

All environmental improvements of the property that are made are constantly in consideration of the wildlife, the ecosystem and the long term effect on the property.

Please consider aiding us in our goal. We suggest a gift of $100 or more, but any donation is appreciated. We hope you will join us to help us preserve and improve of the Monastery property. It is only through the generosity of friends and neighbors that this special area can be preserved for future generations of park users.
